This informative brochure not only contains projections for the number of cancer cases and deaths by county and by major site (colon, breast, lung, etc.) for 2000 but also includes trend data for cases and deaths by sex and race. There are also discussions of risk factors, treatment, survival, and symptoms for the top four sites (breast, lung, prostate and colon). American Cancer Society guidelines for early detection are included as well as national, statewide and local contacts for more information on specific types of cancer. The American Cancer Society granted us permission to use their annual publication, Cancer Facts and Figures, as a direct reference in the development of this brochure.
